One of our favourite ways to experience Prince Edward County is by shopping where the locals do. Throughout the growing season, roadside farm stands offer everything from freshly picked vegetables and fruit to free-range eggs, baked goods, preserves, maple syrup, flowers, and locally raised meats.

If you're staying at Lilac Lakehouse, you'll find several wonderful farm stands just a short drive away. They're perfect for picking up ingredients for a barbecue, stocking the kitchen with seasonal produce, or simply enjoying a leisurely drive through the countryside.

Why We Love the Farm Stands Around Lilac Lakehouse

There's something special about pulling over at a small roadside stand, choosing produce harvested that morning, and chatting with the people who grew it.

Prince Edward County has a long agricultural history, and many of its farm stands are family-run operations that have served the community for generations. Shopping locally is one of the easiest ways to support the farmers who help make the County such a vibrant destination.

Depending on the season, you'll discover everything from asparagus in spring to sweet corn, tomatoes, berries, pumpkins, apples, and squash later in the year.

Our Favourite Farm Stands Near Lilac Lakehouse

One of our favourite local stops is Return to Earth Farm, a family-owned regenerative farm just outside Picton. Rather than operating as a traditional produce stand, the farm specializes in ethically raised meats, free-range eggs, maple syrup, homemade soups, bone broths, soaps, and other seasonal products. The roadside farm stand is open daily during farm hours, and many items are also available for pre-order.

If you enjoy cooking during your stay, it's a wonderful place to pick up high-quality local ingredients.

If you're exploring Picton or heading toward Sandbanks, we always recommend stopping at Laundry Farms. This long-standing family farm is known for its fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, and it's one of the County's favourite roadside markets.

Throughout the growing season, you'll find strawberries, asparagus, lettuce, rhubarb, sweet corn, tomatoes, pumpkins, apples, and plenty more depending on the time of year.

If you enjoy cooking during your stay at Lilac Lakehouse, it's a great place to stock up before heading back to the lake.

Just a short drive from the lakehouse, Langridge's Fresh Produce is another wonderful stop for guests looking to shop locally. This family-run farm market offers a changing selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables, making every visit a little different depending on what's being harvested. It's one of those simple County stops that locals return to throughout the growing season.

We love recommending Langridge's to guests who plan to barbecue, prepare breakfast at the lakehouse, or simply enjoy cooking with fresh local ingredients.
