Cleaning & Checkout

Updated: Sep 21
The end of your stay, but hopefully not the end of your story here.

It's always the last morning that seems to arrive the quickest.
The coffee tastes just a little different, suitcases slowly begin to reappear, and conversations inevitably turn to "We'll have to come back." Perhaps there are a few bottles of Prince Edward County wine tucked safely into the trunk, hundreds of photos waiting to be shared, and memories that already feel like favourites.
We truly hope your time at Lilac Lakehouse has been everything you hoped it would be, a place to reconnect, celebrate, unwind, and create moments that stay with you long after you've returned home.
As you prepare to head out, we don't expect perfection. We have a wonderful housekeeping team who takes care of the deep cleaning between every stay. We simply ask for a few small courtesies that help us welcome the next guests with the same warm experience you enjoyed.
Before You Go
Before checking out, we kindly ask that you:
Wash any dishes you've used and return them to their cupboards. If you've started the dishwasher, that's perfect—we don't expect it to finish before you leave.
Please avoid leaving perishable food behind. If you have unopened, non-perishable items you'd rather not take home, you're welcome to leave them neatly on the kitchen island. Whenever possible, we'll donate them through a local community kitchen initiative.
Take all garbage, recycling, compost, and refundable bottles or cans to the outdoor Waste Management Centre before departing. If you've collected refundable containers during your stay, we'll happily include them in our Bottle Returns for a Cause program, supporting the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward.
If you've enjoyed the BBQ or pizza oven, please give them a thorough clean before leaving. Removing food residue and ashes helps keep everything ready for the next guests and avoids additional cleaning charges.
If you've spent time on the water, please return the paddle boards to their storage rack and place the lifejackets back in the deck box. We also kindly ask that any outdoor furniture be returned to its original location so the property is ready for the next family to enjoy.
There's no need to strip the beds, start the laundry, or vacuum the floors. Simply leave the Lakehouse in the same thoughtful condition you found it, and we'll take care of the rest.
Before You Lock the Door

If something wasn't working quite as expected during your stay, or if an item was accidentally damaged, we'd genuinely appreciate knowing before you leave.
These things happen, and we'd much rather have the opportunity to repair or replace something before welcoming our next guests than have you worry about mentioning it.
Checkout is 10:00 AM, when our housekeeping team begins preparing the Lakehouse for its next visitors.
As you're leaving, simply press the red August logo on the exterior keypad. You'll hear a short confirmation beep, letting you know the front door has locked securely behind you.
If you have a moment, we'd also love a quick message through your booking platform letting us know you've checked out safely. It's always nice knowing you've made it on your way, and we truly enjoy hearing that you had a wonderful stay.
As the Lakehouse disappears in your rear-view mirror and the shoreline gives way to the quiet roads of Prince Edward County, we hope you leave with more than just photographs.
We hope you leave feeling rested. A little more connected. And already looking forward to your next visit.
Until then, thank you for letting us share our little corner of the County with you.
Safe travels!
