Where unforgettable evenings naturally gather.

There is something timeless about sitting around a fire.

Lakeside lawn with Adirondack chairs around a fire pit, sailboats on the water, and trees under a cloudy sky.

The conversations seem to last a little longer. Marshmallows somehow taste better outdoors. A glass of local Prince Edward County wine feels a little more relaxing, and before you know it, someone is pointing toward the stars while another adds, "Just one more log."

Some of our favourite evenings at Lilac Lakehouse have ended around the fire pit.

Whether you're sharing stories after a day exploring the County, roasting marshmallows with the kids, or simply enjoying the peaceful sounds of Cressy Cove after sunset, it's a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy being together.

Because the Lakehouse is located in rural Prince Edward County, all outdoor fires are regulated by the municipality. Before lighting the fire pit, a daily burn permit must be activated. It only takes a moment, but it's an important step that helps keep our community safe.

Before You Light the Fire

Before starting a fire, please:

  • Call (833) 376-1011 to activate the daily burn permit.

  • Use Permit Number #STA25-348.

  • If you can't activate the permit, or the recording advises that burning is not permitted, please do not light a fire.

Enjoying the Fire Safely

To help everyone enjoy the fire pit safely, we kindly ask that you:

  • Keep fires small.

  • Burn no more than three logs at a time.

  • Never leave the fire unattended.

  • Ensure someone 18 years or older is supervising the fire at all times.

  • Be mindful of excessive smoke or sparks that may affect neighbouring properties.

A fire extinguisher is located beside the outdoor pizza oven should you ever need it.

Lighting the Fire

Stacked cut firewood logs in an overhead view, with tan and brown wood slices against dark gaps.

Getting started is simple.

Begin with the kindling and small chopped wood provided in your wood bag. Once the fire is established, add larger logs gradually, never more than three at a time.

Please remember that the fire pit door and handle become extremely hot during use. Use caution whenever opening or closing the fire pit.

When the Evening Comes to an End

When you're ready to head inside, you have two options.

You can simply allow the fire to burn down naturally until it goes out on its own, or carefully extinguish it using the garden hose located beside the side deck.

Once the ashes have completely cooled, please remove any remaining debris and place it in the green bin.

Firewood

If you need additional firewood during your stay, wood bags are available beneath the exterior stairs leading to the pergola.

Each bag is $20 and includes:

  • Kindling

  • Chopped wood

  • Fire logs

Payment can be left in the cash box located in the Lilac Lakehouse Shop, or sent by e-transfer to lilaclakehouse@gmail.com.

Thank you! Let's keep everyone safe.
