The Chef's Kitchen

Where local ingredients, good company, and a little creativity come together.
Every great meal begins long before anyone sits down at the table. It starts with someone returning from a morning market carrying fresh fruits and veggies still warm from the sun. A stop at a local winery that somehow turns into three. Fresh herbs picked up from a roadside stand. The promise of a fa
mily recipe that's been requested for years, or the excitement of trying something entirely new.
The Lakehouse kitchen was designed for those moments.

Spacious enough for everyone to gather without getting in each other's way, it invites people to cook together rather than simply cook. Someone pours a glass of Prince Edward County Pinot Noir while another slices fresh bread. Children perch on the island stools helping decorate dessert. Friends debate whether the pasta needs another pinch of salt. Even preparing dinner becomes part of the memory.
At the centre of it all is a generous quartz island that naturally becomes the room's gathering place. Whether it's a leisurely breakfast, an afternoon charcuterie spread, or late-night desserts after a day exploring the County, people seem to find their way here without thinking. It's the kind of kitchen where conversations continue effortlessly, even while dinner is still in the oven.
Our Chef’s Kitchen’s Got the Goods
Behind the scenes, the kitchen is equipped with premium Bosch appliances selected to make entertaining feel effortless. Whisper-quiet panelled dishwashers disappear into the cabinetry, allowing conversation to continue uninterrupted. Oversized side-by-side refrigerators and freezers provide more than enough room for groceries, local market finds, and celebration meals, while the five-burner cooktop, full-sized double ovens, drawer microwave, and spacious prep areas make cooking for a crowd surprisingly enjoyable.
Everything has its place.
From cookware and bakeware to serving dishes, utensils, mixing bowls, measuring tools, and the everyday essentials that make a kitchen feel complete, you'll find everything needed to prepare anything from a quick breakfast to a holiday feast. Supplies like dish soap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, tea towels, food wrap, and other kitchen necessities are thoughtfully provided so you can spend less time worrying about supplies and more time enjoying your stay.
For coffee lovers, mornings begin with a Nespresso Citiz machine, complete with a selection of capsules to welcome you to your first few mornings at the Lakehouse. Nearby, a ceramic kettle is ready for tea or hot chocolate, while an ultra-filtered drinking water tap provides fresh water for cooking, coffee, and filling reusable bottles before heading out to explore.
During your stay, you may notice that a small number of cabinets remain locked throughout your stay. These simply house owner belongings and replenishment supplies, allowing us to keep the kitchen fully stocked and ready for every guest while leaving the vast majority of the space entirely yours.
Meals at The Lilac Lakehouse: Hiring a Chef, Taking Cooking Lessons, or Cooking Up a Storm Together
Over the past year, we've discovered that many guests don't simply cook here, they celebrate here.
Some invite private chefs to prepare unforgettable tasting menus while everyone gathers around the island with a glass of wine. Others book cooking classes as part of a weekend with girlfriends. Many simply spend an evening preparing dinner together, discovering that the laughter shared while chopping vegetables often becomes just as memorable as the meal itself.
If you're interested in bringing in a private chef, we'd be happy to share a few of our favourite local recommendations.
The Mudroom & Laundry Room
Just beyond the kitchen, the adjoining mudroom (laundry area) quietly keeps everything running smoothly.

A large utility sink, stacked washer and dryer, laundry supplies, extra garbage bags, and a complimentary first bottle for the water dispenser are all ready should you need them. After a day paddle boarding, swimming, or simply relaxing by the shoreline, it's also the perfect place to hang damp towels before stepping back into the house.
A bench offers a comfortable place to slip shoes on and off, while the nearby first aid kit and fire extinguisher provide peace of mind that, hopefully, you'll never need.
The Memories Made in the Kitchen
Like so much of the Lakehouse, it's designed to be useful without asking for attention. Because the best kitchens aren't remembered for their appliances. They're remembered for the people gathered around the island, the recipes shared between family and friends, and the meals that somehow tasted better simply because everyone was together.
Let’s get cooking!
