Where every path through the Lakehouse seems to meet.

Some rooms are designed to impress, while others are designed to be lived in.

The living room was always meant to be the latter. It sits at the centre of The Lilac Lakehouse, quietly connecting the entryway, kitchen, dining room, and waterfront deck, becoming the place everyone naturally passes through, and, more often than not, the place where they decide to stay a little longer.

From the moment you step into the room, it's the view that quietly steals your attention.

Towering windows frame the calm waters of the cove, while four-panel French patio doors invite the outdoors in. Beyond them, the expansive waterfront deck stretches toward the shoreline, creating an easy flow between morning coffee inside, afternoon conversations in the sun, and evenings spent watching the colours change across the lake. Whether the doors are open to a warm summer breeze or closed against a cozy winter snowfall, the water always feels like part of the room.

The seating has been arranged with one simple idea in mind: bringing people together.

Comfortable sofas and inviting leather chairs gather naturally around a handcrafted vintage coffee table, creating a space that feels just as suited to quiet mornings as it does lively evenings. It's where someone inevitably curls up with a blanket after breakfast, where children spread out board games on rainy afternoons, and where conversations somehow continue long after everyone agrees it's time for bed.

The coffee table itself has quietly become part of many Lakehouse traditions. It’s not-so-secret secret is that its tops flip to transform into a generous table for puzzles, card games, charcuterie boards, or an impromptu evening of local wine and cheese. After all, this is Prince Edward County. Sampling a bottle from a nearby winery while sharing a board of local cheeses feels less like an occasion and more like a rite of passage.

Along one wall, a custom-built media centre anchors the room without overwhelming it. An elegant electric fireplace set among river rock adds warmth throughout the seasons, while an 85-inch Samsung Frame television blends into the decor as artwork whenever it's not in use. It's a deliberate choice. We wanted the room to feel centred around the people in it, not the screen on the wall.

Of course, there are evenings when everyone gathers for a favourite movie after a day on the water, and the television happily takes on a different role. Like everything else in the room, it's there when you want it and quietly steps aside when you don't.

One of our favourite things about the living room isn't actually in the room itself.

From here, the rest of the Lakehouse seems to unfold naturally. Someone wanders into the kitchen to refill a glass of wine while dinner is prepared. Another heads out to the deck to watch the sunset over the cove. Laughter drifts in from the dining table, where dessert has somehow turned into another hour of conversation. No one announces where they're going next… they simply move through the house, always finding their way back here.

Perhaps that's what makes a living room feel alive: not the furniture, not the fireplace, not even the view. It's the people who fill it, and the moments that quietly become part of every stay.

Long after the bags are unpacked and the itinerary is forgotten, this is often the room guests remember most… not because of what it looked like, but because of what happened here.

It’s where you make your most unforgettable memories.
