The Dining Room

Where meals become memories, and one more glass somehow turns into one more hour.

The best gatherings are rarely remembered for what was served. Years later, no one talks about the salad. They remember the stories, the laughter that became contagious, the bottle that unexpectedly disappeared, and the moment someone said, "Let's just stay here a little longer."

That was the feeling we wanted this room to capture.

Modern dining room with long wooden table, starburst pendant lights, and large windows overlooking a lake and sailboats.

At its heart sits a remarkable sixteen-foot live-edge dining table, custom built from sustainably sourced wood and made to bring people together. Every grain, knot, and natural curve has been preserved, celebrating the character of the timber rather than hiding it. It is, quite literally, one of a kind… just like the gatherings that unfold around it.

Comfortably seating 12 guests and more, the table was designed with celebration in mind.

Whether it's a family reunion, a holiday dinner, birthdays, an intimate wedding weekend, or simply friends escaping to Prince Edward County together, everyone has a place at the table. There is no separate "kids' table," no squeezing chairs into corners, and no one left balancing a plate from the living room. Everyone belongs in the conversation.

For families travelling with little ones, a high chair is available, making it easy for even the smallest guest to join the meal.

The dining room also serves as the practical heart of the home. Along one wall, custom cabinetry stores everything you'll need, from everyday dishes and glassware to serving platters, bowls, cutlery, and the little extras that make hosting feel effortle

ss. Whether you're preparing a casual breakfast or serving a multi-course dinner, everything is within easy reach without ever feeling cluttered.

Among the cabinetry, you may notice our collection of cobalt blue glassware displayed behind glass. These pieces aren't part of the everyday dinner service; they're simply something we love and sourced from local vintage shops specifically for The Lilac Lakehouse. Their rich colour catches the light beautifully throughout the day, quietly reflecting the blues of the lake beyond the windows and adding another small reminder of where you are.

This thoughtfully designed serving niche has become a drop stop after an afternoon exploring the County. Complete with a wine rack and corkscrew, it's the perfect place to store or uncork the bottles you've collected from local wineries before bringing them to the table.

Prince Edward County has earned its reputation as one of Canada's premier wine destinations, and there's something wonderfully satisfying about ending the day by opening a bottle only a few kilometres from where it was made. No reservations. No rushing. Just good company and another pour.

Large windows surround the room, filling it with natural light throughout the day while offering glimpses of both the waterfront and the grounds beyond. In warmer months, the nearby patio doors make it easy to carry dinner outside to the deck or patio. In winter, the soft glow from the lighting overhead and the warmth of the Lakehouse create a completely different kind of comfort, inviting everyone to linger long after dessert has disappeared.

We've come to believe that every home has one place where people naturally gather, not because they're told to, but because they want to. For us, it's this table.

The one where vacations begin each morning over coffee, where evenings stretch pleasantly later than expected, and where strangers become friends, friends become family, and memories quietly take their seats alongside everyone else.

Cheers.
